CARITAS!

St Francis Church aided our close partner and supporter, Christ Church in Glen Allen, with their Caritas summer program that provided hospitality and food to the Richmond area homeless by hosting their dinner on Wednesday, July 20, 2011. The Wednesday night Caritas guests were mostly men with some women and children and the main dishes served that night were baked chicken, mashed potatoes and gravy, salad, fruit, corn bread, green beans, brownies, blueberry pie, pound cake, and ice cream. 28 volunteer St Francis parishioners acted as dinner partners, servers, cooks, and cleaners. The event was such a success and joy to the participants that the church has agreed to function in this role again at Christ Church in November 2011 for a Caritas family night.
